Indiscipline: 27 MBBS Students suspended, fined Rs 1.85 lakh at Gajra Raja Medical College

Gwalior: Commotion prevailed at Gajra Raja Medical College after suspension orders were issued by college authorities to 27 MBBS students for creating a violent ruckus at an exhibition cricket match being played on the college grounds, during the annual day function of the medical college. Besides suspending students between a period of one month and one year the authorities have also imposed, a total fine of Rs 1.85 lakh on the miscreant students.


The chaotic situation arose between two clashing groups of students in the playground when someone passed some comments on a girl student. The clash became violent in a while injuring students and damaging hospital furniture and vehicles. According to these sources, a ceratin Ashish Dwivedi jumped into the playing grounds with petrol bombs and hurled them at the opposing faction, causing injury to many, reports Pioneer.


Talking to the Pioneer, Dean Gajra Raja Medical College, Dr SN Iyengar, said that the chief culprit behind the clash turning violent was identified as Ashish Dwivedi, a student of the 2016 batch. According to the Dean beside the one-year suspension, a fine of Rs 25000.00 has also been imposed on him. In addition to Ashish Dwivedi, Vikas Seth, Vipin Dwivedi, and Abhishek Mittal were the other wrongdoers who were ordered suspensions for various time periods.


Dr Iyengar further elaborated that so many suspension at one time had been done for the first time. According to him despite reservations expressed by the staff and management about organizing the annual function, he had gone ahead with it as a gesture of goodwill towards the students.
