2 Medical Interns Suspended for making TikTok Videos in Hospital

Hyderabad: 2 medical interns associated with the government-run Gandhi Hospital have been handed over suspension orders on account of making TikTok videos within the hospital premises during working hours.

The junior doctors in the physiotherapy department made the video crooning and dancing to romantic and filmy tracks in Gandhi Hospital's premises. In some videos, they are even seen wearing medical coats. They had shot over 4 videos when patients weren’t around and uploaded it on the video-sharing platform.

As per media accounts, these videos apparently went viral on social media and WhatsApp groups and came to the notice of hospital authorities who later suspended the physiotherapy medicos.

Their action came under flak from netizens for behaving irresponsibly in the hospital where many poor patients turn up for treatment.

Taking serious note of this incident, hospital authorities suspended the two interns including a woman doctor and also served notice to the in-charge of the physiotherapy department. They also ordered a probe into the incident.

Speaking to IANS, Gandhi Hospital officials clarified that both medicos were not from the Gandhi Medical College but from some other medical college and were doing an internship at the hospital.

“Usually the trainees spend six months at the hospital but these two have been sent back after three months with a letter to their department head in college, as part of disciplinary action after the videos came to the notice of the hospital authorities,” Dr Jayakrishna, Resident Medical Officer with Gandhi Hospital told NDTV.
