HP: Hospitals to get new emergency wards to improve services

Shimla: Health Minister, Kaul Singh Thakur has announced the establishment of two emergency wards at Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital, Shimla and Dr Rajendra Prasad Government Medical College, Tanda, to strengthen emergency services in the state. The minister also announced the establishment of a trauma center in the OPD building of the IGMC. This is being done to provide immediate treatment for accident cases.


While presiding over the governing body meeting of Rogi Kalyan Samiti (RKS) of the Iindira Gandhi Medical College, Shimla here today, the minister also spoke about water ATM installation at IGMC and Kamla Nehru Hospital, Shimla to facilitate patients and their attendants. The minister in his directive to the hospital administration, asked it to send a proposal to the state government for filling up posts of various categories and for absorbing the outsourced employees in the Rajendra Prasad Government Medical College, Tanda .


He said that the government would provide a sum of Rs 552.50 lakh to the RKS as grant-in-aid and Rs 17.45 lakh would be provided by the state and Union governments for various schemes. Suresh Bhardwaj, local MLA and Mayor Sanjay Chauhan also gave their suggestions for improving functioning of the Rajendra Prasad Government Medical College .


Principal Secretary, Health, Prabodh Saxena, Principal, Indira Gandhi Medical College, Dr Ashok Sharma, other senior doctors and members of the RKS attended the meeting.
