HP: Golden Jubilee celebrations of IGMC to conclude on October 10

Shimla: The year-long Golden jubilee celebrations of Indira Gandhi Medical college here, the first medical college of Himachal Pradesh, will conclude on October 10.


Vice President of India Mohammad Hamid Ansari has been extended the request to preside over the ceremony while Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh has also been invited.


"IGMC celebrated the Golden jubilee year by organising workshops, conferences, inviting guest lecturers, cultural and social events round the year," said Principal of IGMC, Dr Ashok Sharma.


"The IGMC luminaries doctors, who have brought laurels not only to the state but also to the country by their dedicated and committed services, would be felicitated on the occasion," he added.


Under Continuing Medical Education (CME), lectures from eminent college alumni and professionals from reputed universities would be delivered on health, leadership skills for health professionals, interventional radiology, oncology management and many other topics, followed by alumni meet and cultural programme.


College magazine Shushruta would also be released on the occasion.


The IGMC, established on October 13, 1966 is a premier medical institution of the state.
