Bhubaneswar: In yet another case of medical seat fraud, an officer and a relative of the Hi-Tech Medical College MD was arrested by the Jharkhand police for allegedly duping an MBBS aspirant of Rs 5 lakh on the pretext of providing him with medical seat in the institution.

As per the local daily, the accused officer is identified as Tirupati Choudhary, a relative of Hi-Tech Group MD Tirupathi Panigrahi. Choudhary had taken Rs 5 lakh from one Ramdhar Pautik of Bhopal by promising him to allocate a seat in the medical college in 2014. However, Choudhary did not facilitate Pautik's admission into MBBS course and neither did he return his money.

The accused came into the hands of the police after the complainant, Pautik filed a case with the local police.

Jharkhand police with the help of Sahid Nagar police arrested Choudhary and took him to the court. A case has been registered against Choudhary under relevant Sections of the IPC. Govindpur police in Dhanbad registered a case (422/13) under Sections 420, 467, 468 and 120(B) of IPC.

Later, the complainant filed a 1 CC case in Dhanbad court regarding this following inaction by the police. The court issued a non-bailable warrant against Choudhary as he failed to appear before it despite repeated calls.

In the meantime, Choudhary's lawyer said the money was returned to the complainant, but the relevant documents were not produced in the court.

According to Odishatv.in, earlier, Choudhury was arrested by the Odisha Crime Branch in a land fraud case.
