Help desks to be manned by health officials at mop up counselling
Puducherry: Three senior medical officers of the Directorate of Health and Family Welfare Services have been appointed as in-charge of the helpdesks established in three private medical colleges and hospitals, by the Puducherry Government. This has been done to provide assistance to Centac sponsored students, seeking admission to postgraduate medical courses .
Nodal officers –P Kumaravel (clinical establishment act) and R Nilamani (quality assurance and Kayakalp);K Santhi Mathi - state programme officer (national programme for prevention and control of cancers, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases and stroke), were appointed as the in-charge of helpdesks established in Sri Venkateshwaraa Medical College Hospital and Research Centre, Pondicherry Institute of Medical Sciences, and Sri Manakula Vinayagar Medical College and Hospital, respectively.
The officers will be present at the respective private medical college desks between 9.30am and 5.30pm (from May 8 to 10) to help students seeking admissions into postgraduate courses said director (health and family welfare services) K V Raman to the TOI.
Twenty government seats and 46 management seats in postgraduate medical programs have continued to lie vacant at three private medical colleges and hospitals after the second round of counselling.
Centac proposes to hold a mop-up counselling session to fill up these vacant seats on May 14 .
