Health Ministry nod to 144 seats in 16 MD,MS courses, check out details

New Delhi: Through a public notice, the Ministry of Health and family welfare has announced, that letter of permission (LOP) will be given to 22 more medical colleges across the country to start and increase seats in various PG courses. With the move it is expected to add 144 seats in 16 PG courses


This is the second such notification taken out by the ministry this month

Toward the same the Ministry has asked the colleges to submit certain requirements including bank gaurantee. The notice added that the Bank Guarantee/undertaking may be sent immediately to enable the Govt. to issue Letter of Permission for the year 2018-19. It may be noted that as per notified time schedule, 28.02.2018 is the last date for issue of LoP for the year 2018-19.


The Ministry has issued letters to the applicant colleges in respect of recommendation received from MCI earlier for submission necessary Bank Guarantee and other documents. The Ministry is in the process of issuing LoP in respect of the courses where necessary documents have been received. The remaining colleges are advised to submit the documents in the Ministry for issuing of LoP.

  1. The applicant should provide all infrastructural facilities in terms of teaching and non-teaching staff, buildings, equipment and hospital facilities as per Medical Council of India norms.

  2. No student should be admitted in the above course till the formal permission of the Central Government is granted.

  3. The Private Medical College should provide Bank Guarantee of required amount in favour of Medical Council of India, New Delhi valid for three years from a nationalized/scheduled Bank as per MCI's norms. However, medical colleges/institutions governed by the State Govt. are required to furnish only an undertaking to provide funds in their budget till the facilities are fully provided as per time-bound programme indicated by them.

  4. The Medical Colleges/institutions will provide an undertaking to implement the decision regarding payment of stipend to the PG students similar to PG students of Govt. Medical colleges in their State.

  5. The Govt Medical College(s) (except those colleges located in J&K) should give an undertaking authorising Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), Directorate General of Health Services, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India to include 50 percent of PG (Medical) seats in All India Quota PG seats for the year 2018-19.
