The revision of teacher student ratio for medical colleges in the country, brings good news to the aspirants of super-speciality courses, as owing to the move, Ministry of health has approved around 79 seats in 17 superspeciality courses across 24 medical colleges

With recent notices, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare directed the Medical Council of India (MCI) to increasing/start in the number of PG (super specialty) seats at various government medical colleges for the academic year 2017-18. While giving permission, the Ministry has clarified that this permission is subject to the condition that the college authority will furnish an undertaking within three weeks from the concerned state government to provide adequate funds in budget regularly till all facilities are provided. This permission would be confirmed only after receipt of necessary undertaking as enumerated. This permission for starting/increasing the seats in PG (super specialty) courses and admission students will be till such time the first batch of students admitted against the courses appears for the first final examination in the subject. The college authorities may take up the matter for recognition of the qualifications under the section of 11(2) of IMC act at the time of first batch admitted against the courses for the final year examination.
