HC orders fresh counselling of medical PG courses in 3 weeks in UP

Lucknow: The Allahabad High Court today issued directions for conducting fresh counselling within three weeks for allocation of postgraduate medical seats, on a plea seeking special marks for doctors serving in rural areas.


Justice Vivek Chaudhary of the Lucknow bench of the high court passed the order the petition filed by Dr Jai Prakash and others, Director General of Medical Education's counsel Sanjay Bhasin said.


The hearing concluded today and the court allowed the petition, he said.


The petitioners demanded additional marks for doctors working in rural areas.


They pleaded in the petition that doctors working in rural areas for one year should be given 10 percent weightage, those working for two years be given 20 percent and those for three years be given 30 percent weightage in the counselling for admission in postgraduate medical courses.
