Gujarat: Almost 35,000 students are expected to appear for admissions to medical and para-medical courses at BJ Medical College (BJMC). This fresh group of students will also be applying online, by submitting their forms online this time. The forms are likely to be available online in a week.

The procedure for submission of the form will be conducted for 10-15 days, from the time it begins. However, candidates will be required to be present for the admission process which is to be done physically.

The online procedure has been initiated to provide convenience to fill in forms from the comfort of their homes. It is likely to help majority of students who seek admission under non-reserved category. After submitting their application forms online, they can also check online whether they have been shortlisted in the merit list.

The application forms are available through designated Axis Bank branches. By approaching the bank’s branch, students will be given a secret pin number. The candidate will be required to give the number during filling the form online. Besides, 6 GMC’s and 7 Gujarat Medical Education and Research Society have been identified for setting up centres to assist students for filling up the forms.

Those students applying under SC/ST or other reserved categories, or seeking relaxation of any kind will have to submit valid documents at these help centres. Students will have to pay a fee of Rs 180 with the forms. "Consultation with students will be done for free. This is for the first time that filling of forms for medical and para medical courses is being done online at BJMC," Dr Pranay Shah of BJMC told Mirror. Dr Ashok Nirman of BJMC said, "The procedure is the same as that of engineering admissions. Students will have to come to BJMC for admission process."
