Kollam: The Medical Council of India’s (MCI) decision to deny Parippally Medical College permission to open admissions for the forthcoming academic year is being maintained a discreet silence upon by the state government and the CPI(M) party said MP NK Premachandran.

In a recent press conference the MP said, ‘‘They should clarify their stand on the matter. There has been no action against the officials who conspired to sabotage the college by creating intentional flaws. This points to the fact that it might be executed with the knowledge of the government.”

The hospital despite having 10 operation theatres with the state-of-the-art facilities has no surgeries to its credit.

“The hospital has a daily inflow of over 1,000 outpatients and has all amenities for inpatients. But no patients are admitted and even the maternity ward, which is well-equipped for C-sections, is non-functional. Despite having enough time, the required number of doctors is not appointed.”

“Also, the terms of the agreement based on the suggestions by the Supreme Court supervisory committee are violated. The government and the CPI(M) should reveal whose interests they are trying to protect,” MP Premachandran added.

Earlier, the Parippally Medical College takeover was withheld by the Delhi High Court.

“By mitigating the gravity of the issue, and thereby helping to execute the secret agenda with private management, the CPI(M) and government have taken a deceptive stand."

“The future of the hospital is in jeopardy, leaving the public, students, parents, and ESI beneficiaries concerned,” he told the Hindu.

A memorandum demanding the withdrawal of MCI’s order had been handed over to the Union Health Minister and Health Secretary the MP revealed.
