Good news: NEET PG percentile lowered by 6 percentile
New Delhi: Bringing good news for PG medical aspirants this year across the country, the Central government is now moving ahead to lower the percentile of NEET PG to facilitate further counselling this year.
Confirmation to this effect was recently made by the Union Health Secretary, Shri Amit Biswas to all the principal secretaries ( Medical Education/Health) in all the states/union territories announcing the lowering of the NEET PG 2019 percentile and asking them to make arrangement for counselling with the revised percentile
The lowering of cutoff is going to benefit thousands of medicos who would be now eligible for participating in the consequent PG Medical Counselling rounds.
In accordance withthe Clause 9(III) of the Indian Postgraduate Medical Education Regulations, 2000, when sufficient number of candidates fail to secure the minimum marks, the Central Government in consultation with the MCI, may lower the minimum cutoff marks which shall be applicable for the said academic year to fulfill the vacant medical Post graduation seat. This is a significant step towards strengthening the medical sector and indicates the priority given by the Indian Government to it.
Earlier the government had also lowed the percentile for NEET MDS

I am directed to refer to the subject mentioned above and to inform that the central government in consultation with the Medical Council Of India (MCI) has decided to reduce the percentile cut-offs for NEET -PG by 6 percentile, taking them to 44 percentile for general category candidates, 39 percentile for persons with disabilities category and 34 percentile for SC/ST/OBC category candidates. Marks so lowered by the central government are applicable for the academic year 2019-20 only
All states/UTs are requested to make necessary arrangements allowing students as per revised qualifying marks in any further rounds of counselling this year. The National Board of Examination (NBE) was also advised to furnish revised merit list for all the states.
