Goa Medical College granted Rs 150 lakh for a super speciality block

Goa Medical College has received funds to the tune of Rs 150 lakh for setting up an in-premise 450-bedded super specialty block.

The budget has been allocated by the Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar in his recent budget speech. The new independent block is expected to consist of existing super specialties and addition of specialties like oncology, liver transplant, and endocrinology.

The CM has further implied that Deen Dayal Swasthya Seva (DDSS), a universal mediclaim scheme to be offered by the government will cover 443 medical procedures and treatment of ailments including mental health treatment facilities. In addition, cashless diagnostics, provision of medicines, provisions of ayurveda procedures and therapy will be a part of the insurance cover.

As implied by TOI in its report, the scheme would cover include hospitals such as AIIMS, NIMHANS, Bengaluru, Tata Memorial Hospitals, CMC Vellore, NEIGRIHMS Shillong, PGIMER Chandigarh, JIPMER Puducherry and select private hospitals in the State of Goa
