Goa Medical College to have regional cancer centre soon

Panaji: The Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) will soon set up its own regional cancer centre at a cost of Rs 45-crore after signing an MoU with the Union health ministry, State Health Minister Vishwajit Rane said.


''#GMCH will have its own regional cancer center for treatments, after signing the MoU, under the guidance of @manoharparrikar,'' Mr Rane said in a tweet.

According to the sources, Union Government has identified the GMCH for setting up regional cancer centre. The proposal was pending with the Public Works Department (PWD) but now it has been pushed by the Minister.

The required infrastructure would be built by Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC) for the cancer centre, sources added.
