GMC Thiruvananthapuram OP section under Rs 10 cr renovation

Thiruvananthapuram: Rs 10 crore renovation work, which is part of the Aardram mission, in progress at Thiruvananthapuram Government Medical College's (GMC Thiruvananthapuram), OP section to make the hospital environs more patient-friendly.


The renovation is continuing as per directions of the Health Minister, KK Shailaja. the first phase renovations ensured that the mother and child section in SAT hospital was made patient-friendly.


The Ist phase renovation of basic amenities and paintings on the initial walls are in progress An attempt to get rid of the queue system has led to the initiation of an online registration of patients and also the introduction of an application. Chairs for relaxing, drinking water, television to enjoy health and educational programs, special facilities for differently able people, and air conditioning of checkup rooms are also some of the amenities being introduced.


According to Nodal Officer, Dr. Santhosh Kumar, the GMC Thiruvananthapuram works are attempting to redefine hospital conventionalism. Thought provoking paintings are being made by putting brush to canvas to elevate the otherwise depressing atmosphere of the hospital to a pleasant one. The same is the case with artworks being brought to life for each of the departments.


20 artists headed by Dr. Ajith Kumar G, Winner, Kerala Sahitya Academy Award and a renowned artist, are getting the paintings ready, reports Mathrubhumi.
