Ghaziabad: UP Task Force unearths MBBS admission frauds racket

Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force with the arrest of two miscreants has reached a gang of youths involved in duping over a hundred aspirants on the pretext of providing them MBBS admission in government-run medical colleges on payments close to Rs 20-25 lakh per candidate

The gang operating from Ghaziabad had a network spread across the country. According to UPSTF officials close to a hundred have already been cheated by these gangsters.

Ashish Kumar and Sudhir Singh two of the gang members have been picked up from Ghaziabad where they were operating a call-center.

Three members others of the gang are still absconding.

The police have recovered fake seals, mobiles, Medical Council of India papers, OMR sheets, NEET list of candidates from the ones arrested.

According to SSP STF Abhishek Singh the gang used to contact coaching institutes address and names of aspirants. Later calls were placed to them from the call center and aspirants assured admission in government-run medical colleges in Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar. Aspirants from Tamil Nadu and West Bengal are believed to have been fleeced as well reports the TOI.

The members used to have these aspirants stay in hotels and ask them to make bank drafts in favour of medical council of India and huge sums of money in cash. They then offered them fake forms of universities and colleges to fill. "Once the formalities were over the miscreants used to change their numbers," said Singh.
