Framing question for EAMCET-3 a big challenge

Telangana: With news of EAMCET-3 round the corner, the concerned authorities for setting the question paper are facing a big challenge. The new convenor and the CM of the exam will be required to identify new examiners for setting up the question paper. EAMCET-3 cannot have repeat questions. This mean no same questions from- AP-Eamcet, TS-Eamcet-I, TS-Eamcet-II and also the Eamcets of 2014 and 2015.

The examiners are now even allowed to copy questions directly from any guide-which is selling in the market. These are the set protocols by the authorities who will conduct the exam and appoint the examiners for preparing questions. Overall, a completely new set of questions has to be prepared. EAMCET-3 test level will also be scrutinized by parents, students and the media. It may be recalled that parents and students have expressed their anguish and frustration over conducting the exam again.

The concerned authorities will have to follow an elaborate plan to set the questions. People with experience, honesty, and integrity, need to be hired for the process. Quality questions need to be prepared, while maintaining the secrecy to the whole process.

There is yet another pre-requisite-none of the examiner should be associate or in service with any coaching centre. Also, none of their relatives will be allowed to appear in the exam-with an undertaking signed to the effect. These are some conditions set by the authorities.

"It is difficult to find quality paper setters fulfilling the criterion in the present circumstances," a professor associated with Eamcet earlier said to the Hindu.

How the question paper is set

Under the normal practice, two subject matter experts report to the EAMCET CM and convenor. They are required to prepare 160 questions in four sets for subjects including, chemistry, physics, botany and zoology in secrecy. The questions have to be reframed. The multiple choice of answers also cannot be the same as the previous paper, Only the right answer can be included in the multiple choice answer options given.

The CM and convenor will personally monitor the whole process. The questions will be handwritten. The questions will be further adjusted in each set, making a complete question paper and sealed immediately. Out of the four sets the chairman blindly picks up two sets that are taken by the convenor to the printer.
