Kakatiya Medical College: Assistant Professor Forensic Medicine suspended

Hyderabad: Assistant Professor of Forensic Medicine, Kakatiya Medical College, Warangal, Dr. Raza Mallik was suspended after it was alleged that a demand of Rs 3000 had been raised by the forensic medicine expert to conduct the post-mortem . The Director, Medical Education (DME), Dr. K Ramesh Reddy, issued the suspension orders at the behest of Health Minister Dr. C. Laxma Reddy.


The DME in a press statement said that Dr Raza Mallik was suspended for postmortem delay despite the instructions given for the same from the Health Minister. It was to be carried out on March 11.


The issue was raised in the Legislative Council in which it was alleged that a demand of Rs 3000 had been raised by the forensic medicine expert to conduct the post-mortem.


Dr. Ramesh Reddy said that a health care professional demanding money from attendants of deceased patients will be dealt with severely.


"The staff in all the State-run hospitals has been warned not to demand money from patients near operation theatres, maternity wards, and intensive wards. This practice is tarnishing the image of the government hospitals, despite the efforts of our Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao and Health Minister Dr. Laxma Reddy to improve health care in the State," he added.


Dr. Raza Mallik, Assistant Professor of Forensic Medicine, Kakatiya Medical College, Warangal, the suspension came into effect on Wednesday, reports Telangana today.
