Vijayawada: The situation seems to be turning grim for both Health Minister, Kamineni Srinivas and the students of Fathima Medical College(FMC) with the relay hunger strike called by the students of the institute entering its 4th day. The students have threatened 'mass suicide' if the government fails to adjust them in other medical institutions. Opposition parties are lending the disillusioned 100 students support by criticising both the Chief Minister, Chandrababu Naidu, and Health Minister, Mr. Srinivas in completely failing in their endeavours to mete out justice to the students.

The students who were staging a protest at Dharna Chowk demanding that the state government make arrangements for them to other medical colleges in the state for this academic year, were visited by Vellampalli Srinivas Rao, YSRC, Akula Srinivas Rao, Congress party and several others. The leaders came to express solidarity and support with the protesting students.

Talking to the media, Vellampalli Srinivasa Rao called for the Chief Minister's intervention. He criticized the Health Minister, Kamineni Srinivas for failing to help these students, who had lost three significant years of their careers, due to the Medical Council of India(MCI), not recognizing the institute

"It is high time for Naidu to act upon this issue rather than focus on politics. 100 students have lost their time and money. The CM should talk to the Central Health minister and MCI on the allotment of seats in other colleges," he demanded.

City Congress President, Akula Srinivas said the party would continue the fight on behalf of the students with the government, till matters were settled.

"Students have met Naidu many times but he could not do justice to them. Instead of a revision petition, he (CM) should bring pressure on the Centre and the MCI," Srinivas told the New Indian Express.

The students turning critical about the Health Minister's role in the whole affair alleged that he was hand in glove with the college authorities, reports TNIE.
