Father Muller Medical College inaugurats simulation and skill centre
Mangaluru: After experiencing the benefits and importance of simulation and skill centres, now the father Muller college has inaugurated the new vision of medical education. This new way of medical education has been received reorganization by Medical Council of India (MCI).
Simulation is a training method that represents certain aspects of clinical care in a lifelike manner, integrating them into an effective training environment.
On the inauguration ceremony of the simulation and skill centre at father muller medical college Dr. Dinker R Pai, clinical health simulation educator, Jurong Health, Singapore and founding member of Pan Asia Simulation Society in Healthcare, clarified the need and importance of simulation and skill centre, he explained that Simulation is a training method that represents certain aspects of clinical care in a lifelike manner, integrating them into an effective training environment.
He further explained, Education is the process of gaining knowledge on continuous basis. Medical education has undergone a paradigm shift now from a teacher focused curriculum to learner focused patient centered curriculum. Medical education has progressed in India with regular revision of the curriculum. India is still debating with the fact that why we need this new vision of medical education, with the changing medical structure and technology india needs to be match up with these changes so our students should be, reported TOI
"There are many misconceptions about the, now we have three terms that are being used as far as medical education is concerned - in vivo training, in vitro training and now we have in silico training, where we use silicon models.In simulation, students can practice on the simulator and get a certain level of skill before dealing with real patients. education is the process of gaining knowledge on contentious basis." Pai said
"A number of international studies have shown that laboratory training is an effective means of developing the communication and gestural skills of healthcare students and professionals. Over the past few years it has been repeatedly emphasized that training in laboratories - safe, ethical and controlled environments - prior to training in clinical settings is key for all healthcare professionals", he added
