Father Muller College of Speech and Hearing holding its decennial year celebrations on Jan 13

Bengaluru: Father Muller College of Speech and Hearing saw its decennial year's finale celebrations on January 13.


Established by the Father Muller Charitable Institutions started in 1980 under the leadership of Fr Augustus Muller in Kankanady, the heart of Mangaluru, the college of speech and hearing was one of the last colleges of this renowned institution which started in 2007 and is now celebrating its decennial year.


The celebrations began at 10 am will be attended by Dr N Shivashankar, professor and HOD of Speech Pathology and Audiology, NIMHANS, Bengaluru who will be the Chief Guest at the function. Msgr Denis Moras Prabhu, Vicar General, Mangalore, Diocese and Vice-President, FMCI will preside over the function.


The OPD wing of 'Speech and Hearing' began in 1984, as a part of the ENT Department. In the year 2007 Father Patrick Rodrigues and the then Dean of Medical College Dr B Sanjeev Rai through their tireless efforts got the college affiliated to the Mangalore University and also had it receive its RCI recognition under the nomenclature of 'Father Muller College'.


In a short span of 10 years, the college became conspicuous by getting the NAAC accreditation, NABH and 2(f) and 12(B) States from UGC. Father Muller College of Speech and Hearing is the second in India and the only under the Mangalore University to receive this honor.


The various activities undertaken by the college in the past 10 years include Students progression and success activities, Faculty development program, Organizing conference, seminars Research activities and Public awareness program.


The college has made steady progress in the last 10 years and a beginning made with a small number of 3 students, has now changed to become a strength of 33 in every batch. The institution is today celebrating 10 successful years of growth.
