Fake MBBS students doing internship, arrested from GMC Manjeri

Malappuram: A twenty year old youth, a native of Malappuram district managed to fool the staff and students of Government Medical College, GMC Manjeri, for a year, posing as a 2nd year MBBS student of the college, till the staff discovered his fraud and had him arrested.


For a whole year, the scammer named Shibin, disguised as an MBBS student, wearing a white overcoat and a stethoscope around his neck took the rounds of the college wards. It was on Thursday, that the hospital staff and the local people finally saw through his facade. According to the police, the doctor act of the lad was so convincing that no one suspected him for being somebody else.


The College Principal, Dr. K. Mohanan said that Shibin had successfully fooled the staff of various departments of the college. .


"When Shibin approached them for financial support to pursue his studies, they even initiated a fund collection for him. The truth came to light when some officials probed his exact whereabouts and academic qualification," Dr Mohanan added.In reality the fraud was merely a higher secondary pass out with 70% marks.
