Indore: A caveat has been filed in the court by the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College (MGMMC) with an aim to avoid legal hurdles in the appointment of professors and associate professors.

The move is meant to alert the court to the versions of both the state government and their own to the process of direct recruitment under Model Service Rule-2018 in the medical institution.

21 professor posts and 47 associate professor posts are lying vacant in the college and the autonomous bodies have been asked by the government to recruit faculty for the vacant positions to overcome the paucity of medical teachers and also, get necessary head counts for starting of new medical colleges in the state.

“We have filed a caveat against the petitions filed pertaining to the direct recruitment of MGMMC to avoid any legal hurdle in the process. Application for the posts has been invited and the interview will be scheduled as early as possible,” Dean, MGM Medical College, Dr Sharad Thora told the Free Press Journal.

The last date for candidates applying for these vacant posts is Monday (March 5) after which interviews would be scheduled by the college authorities for these vacant positions.

The state’s medical colleges no longer have to wait for the public service commission exam results, as recruitments in colleges can be done directly for the position of an associate professor and professor. The selection process for these positions has to be conducted by a four-member Committee consisting the Dean, divisional commissioner, and two professors.

The Committee is also empowered to take decisions on promotion of faculties as per requirement. Though priority in recruitments would be given to new medical colleges to be started in Vidisha, Shahdol Ratlam, Khandwa, Shivpuri, and Datia.
