MCI in its latest move to control the problem of fake faculty existence in medical colleges has given a directive to the Principals' of colleges all across the country to collect data of their teaching faculty, verify it with their aadhar cards, before submission to the the apex body. This is also being done in an attempt to put an end to temporary deployment of faculty in private medical colleges and the resultant deterioration in the quality of teaching standards in medical colleges.

In a letter written to the medical colleges, the organisation stated

As a part of the DMMP, we are in the process of implementing Online Faculty Attendance Monitoring System (OFAMOS) to capture attendance of all faculties in every medical colleges to bring in transparency and accountability of faculty attendance. Biometric fingerprint attendance machines for capturing faculty attendance using OFAMOS will be installed at identified places in the college premises and each college will have multiple machines to facilitate easy access to the faculty. The central application will have connectivity with AADHAR platform of UIDAI For verification.

For the same the organisation has also asked colleges to cooperate and provide space and apparatus for the council to do registration of all the faculty of all medical colleges in the OFAMOS, further expecting full compliance

As the Government of India, MOHFW, is very keen to implement the Digital Mission Mode Project (DMMP), it is therefore expected from every college to strictly comply with the time lines and support required. Non-compliance will lead to strict action.

In a recent introduction, the MCI has had all professors and faculty members of medical colleges register themselves with the online attendance monitoring system. The main reason for MCI introducing this are the increasing complaints received by it about fake faculty being deployed by the private medical colleges.

The online attendance monitoring will also act as a deterrent for state governments who during MCI inspections depute senior doctors and professors of one college to another in order to show full faculty strength to the MCI officials, who come for inspection to government colleges.

The Medical Council has also received an instruction from the Union Health Ministry to solicit faculty lists from colleges all across and upload them on its website. This would help the apex body to keep an eye on the daily attendance of faculty in all colleges, using the online attendance monitoring system.
