Ex Dean- Madras Medical College, faces judicial inquisition

Chennai: The one-man judicial commission probing former Chief Minister, Jayalalithaa’s death,recently, questioned the Former Dean, Madras Medical College Dr. M.K. Muralidharan. The cross-questioning of Dr Muralidharan by the retired High Court Judge, Justice A Arumugasamy carried on for nearly two hours.


Speaking to the press later, Dr. Muralidharan said he was interrogated, as he was the Dean of Madras Medical College, during the period Jayalalitha was admitted to the Apollo Hospitals.


He said the judge had asked him about the nature of treatment given to Ms Jayalalitha during the period of stay. “Since I didn’t treat her, I told the Commission that I don’t know about it. I was also asked if I saw the Chief Minister [at the Apollo Hospitals]. I told them I did not see her,” Dr. Muralidharan revealed to The Hindu.


Justice Arumugasamy also raised questions about the treatment given to Jayalalithaa and its medical significance, the dean further informed. “I gave an explanation to those questions,” he stated. The commission has already interrogated a number of people who deposed before it. Jayalalithaa’s niece J. Deepa and Deepak too faced the commission and answered a barrage of questions.
