Dr PS Shankar Medical Student Scholarship to meritorious 5 MBBS first years

BHAWANIPATNA: The Dr PS Shankar Medical Student Scholarship program felicitated five meritorious students of the first-year MBBS course belonging to economically deprived backgrounds, at the 18th-anniversary celebrations of the Pratishthan in Kalaburagi, on Monday.


Soundarya Pon Moliyan, a physically challenged meritorious girl, emerged as a luminary at the function; as despite a 75% disability, she scored 86.60 % in her SSLC examination and 76.66 % in the PU exam. Ms. Moliyan’s impressive score has helped her bag a medical seat at the Shimoga Institute of Medical Sciences.


Sagar Bhairappa Maali of Karnataka Institute of Medical Sciences, Hubballi, Sharanabasappa N. Beeda of Mysore Medical College and Research Institute, and Nagaveni Vishnukumar Jinde and Shivashankar Reddy A. Doddakamanna of Gulbarga Institute of Medical Sciences were also felicitated at the same function. All five pass outs from Kannada medium will be receiving a scholarship of Rs. 1000 each, for the entire period of MBBS study, spanning 54 months, reports Hindu.


Bhaskar Acharya, Medical Director of Dr. N.R. Acharya Memorial Hospital, Udupi, received the Dr. P.S. Shankar Shreshta Vaidya Sahitya Prashasti Award for the year.


A.H. Rajasab, former Vice-Chancellor of the Tumkur University was the chief guest.


Ambika Shankar, President, Prathisthan, and H. Veerabhadrappa, the Pratishthan’s Vice-president also graced the occasion.
