Bhopal: 250 resignation will soon be pouring in as an expression of protest by doctors who have failed to qualify for admission to the post graduation courses being offered by the state. The doctors staged a protest outside Satpuda Bhawan on Monday to press for their demands of a proper policy which would include most areas of the state making them eligible for admission to PG Courses for in service candidates offered.

Dr Anoop Goyal revealed that in 2016 a guideline was issued by the Supreme Court for conduction of diploma and PG courses for in-service candidates. The state planning was done in such a way that it only covered 89 tribal blocks, wherein in reality it should have looked after the entire cluster of 245 blocks.

This bad planning saw doctors of only 89 blocks being considered and selected for admission to government medical colleges, offering PG courses under the scheme; and the rest being ruled out for ever.

Meanwhile, states like Odisa, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Himachal Pradesh had covered the entire regions ensuring that all parts of their states were covered under the program. Every doctor taking PG admission through in-service quota needs to fill a bond of Rs 30 lakh. If he/she leaves the job before five years, the amount has to be returned.

160 seats are available in Government Medical Colleges for PG courses. The specialist doctor on completion of a PG course, is to be posted in rural areas.

The doctors alleged that they had been banging their heads against walls for the past two months to have the Directorate address their demands;however, all in futility. The Medical Education Commissioner and the Directorate of Medical Education(DME), they complain have paid no attention to them. A five member doctor delegation had later met the Health Commissioner, Pallavi Jain Govil and submitted their demands, reports the Free Press Journal.
