Nagpur: The Indira Gandhi Government Medical College and Hospital's (IGMCH), PPP model run Dialysis center is in the midst of another wrangling. The center has been in operation without an administrative approval since last year, revealed IGMCH Dean, Dr Anuradha Shrikhande. The reason given for it is the Chief Minister's haste in wanting to have the center take off at the earliest, without having to wait for sanctions.

A recent report in TOI states The center, run by a private agency, German Renal Care Pvt Ltd has already been under scrutiny for careless handling of patients.

The Dean told TOI, "The center has been running on our premises, using our space, while we also pay for the electricity. It is being run by the agency which completely looks after its functioning as per the MOU. Lately, there has been some negligence at the center."

The Dean when speaking of this was referring to the October 22 incident, when approximately 20 BPL patients along with their caregivers stood in wait for the staff to arrive for three long hours.

The trouble caused to patients due to the long wait led to the Dean calling a meeting on October 23, of the medicine department, along with the private agency, revealed sources.

The Dean also wrote to the Directorate of Medical Education and Research(DMER), querying ''Why the center shall not be closed?' Keeping in view the last incident, wherein, the patients were kept waiting by the staff.

The Dean has also recommended that the medicine department take over the center since the private agency was unable to handle its functioning. He also wrote to the state education minister requesting the long-awaited administrative approval.
