Demand to make domicile a criterion for MBBS admissions in Gujarat

Ahmedabad: A parent group has met the state authorities to push them to consider domicile certificates as a criterion for admission to the state medical colleges.


A demand for a separate quota for admission of state board students in medical courses was raised last year. The parents have demanded that the Gujarat Board students be given a separate quota for medical course admissions.


The group of parents is also planning to move the High Court. Their basic demand being that outsiders seeking medical admissions in the state should have studied in Gujarat from Class X; a rule in practice, earlier.


However, with NEET becoming a reality, they are insisting on domicile being made criteria for admissions reports TOI.
