Curb Seat Blocking in Management Quota: Medicos tell KNRUHS
Hyderabad: Concerned with the issue of seat blocking during the PG medical admission season, the Healthcare Reforms Doctors Association (HRDA) has submitted a representation to the top authorities at Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences (KNRUHS) which is conducting the NEET PG, NEET MDS counselling 2019 for Telangana medical colleges.
In their official letter to the Vice-Chancellor/Registrar, KNRUHS, the HRDA President has put forth a list of steps demanding the concerned officials to execute them so as to curb seat blocking which ruins the chances of genuine merit students to get PG medical seats under management quota.
Seat Blocking is an act by high ranking candidates first opting for a particular seat in a counselling round and then not joining the same, making the seat available for the next round.
Requesting the institute authorities to immediately constitute Grievance Redressal Committee to address grievances of medicos, the HRDA mentioned the following steps to avoid seat blocking of management quota PG medical seats in the interest of meritorious PG medical aspirants.
1) Every phase of Management quota counselling has to be conducted only after the reporting date of the corresponding convenor quota and after displaying vacant seats in seat matrix.
2) Additional Mop-up counselling has to be conducted for Management Quota seats which should be only after reporting date of Convenor quota mop-up counselling similar to adjacent states universities.
3) Original certificates to be kept with the University instead of the concerned college and the university shall forward all such certificates only after completion of the entire counselling process.
Recently, the Medical Counselling committee (MCC) issued a stringent warning to such candidates/colleges while sensing some fishy business on behalf of certain candidates and medical colleges in terms of seat blocking and then not joining them.
It is alleged that many medical colleges collude with the high ranking candidates to indulge in seat blocking so that popular PG medical seats can be made available for lesser deserving candidates
