Complete five New medical colleges by October 31, directs UP CM Yogi

Earlier the MEM had directed that the 5 medical colleges had to be completed by July 2019. With the same not achieved the CM has now directed that the colleges have to be completed by October 31, 2019

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday directed that the five new medical colleges would be completed by October 31.

"The new medical colleges of Basti, Ayodhya, Shahjahanpur, Firozabad and Bahraich scheduled to be completed in the first phase and be ready by October 31," the CM said.

Earlier the MEM had directed that the medical colleges had to be completed by July 2019. With the same not achieved the CM has now directed that the colleges have to be completed by October 31, 2019

Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that after coming to power, the Yogi Adityanath government had announced setting up of 13 medical colleges in the state.

This called for the upgradation of 5 district hospitals into medical colleges. To accelerate the hiring process of medical teachers in five of the newly established medical colleges in the state, the Uttar Pradesh medical Education department had decided to constitute societies to conduct recruitment test. The move came towards the decentralisation of the hiring process and aims to quicken the process of hiring at their medical colleges.

Sharing details of the increase in the number of seats earlier , State Medical Education Minister Tandon had said that the five new medical colleges have been allotted 100 seats each.

Following the decision, the recruitment of medical teachers in Bahraich, Basti, Faizabad, Shahjhanpur and Firozabad Medical Colleges was started through societies following the state cabinet's approval.

"Since Independence, there were only 13 medical colleges in the state but the BJP government has opened 13 more in the last two years under the steward leadership of Yogi Adityanath," he had stated in July.
