Telangana: The police probe on EAMCET-2 paper leak scam has now reached the doors of many coaching centres in the state. Coaching institutes offering short term and long term coaching, including exclusive EAMCET centres in Krishna and Guntur are being probed in the matter. Already the CID state police have picked up heads of some coaching centres. People who were in contact with them before and after the exam are also being interrogated by the police.

The police investigation is based on call data recordings on the mobile phones of the alleged suspects. However, there is still more scientific evidence to be gathered by the police. This may include proof of bank transactions of the middleman and the alleged students or parents involved. Also, any agreement will be a strong proof.

As per a media report, more than 100 coaching centres are located in Arundalpet, Brodipet and Chandramouli Nagar in the Guntur district, and Benz Circle, Governorpet, Patamata, Poranki, Gandhinagar, Gunadala and other places in the Krishna district. Students from Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu take coaching in the centres.

Some of these coaching centres are functioning under the corporate educational institutions. Some of them are also operating under private colleges.

It has been alleged that the management of the coaching centres are well networked with a wide-spread base of middlemen. These touts get them candidates for admissions, getting them publicity, to get them aspirants from other centres too. All this is suspected to be game of crore of rupees, just to attract students to their coaching centres. These coaching centres allure the students by offering them a guaranteed seat. Even college management is alleged to be involved in the process.

A lecturer in a private college implied that candidates from affluent backgrounds are usually trapped. These candidates usually fail to score a good rank even after multiple attempts.

"Vijayawada and Guntur, once hubs for education, were known for paper leaks. Earlier, there were incidents of intermediate paper leak and recently the PG Medical Entrance Test (PGMET), in which 25 students and some middlemen were arrested. How did the government and the Intelligence Department fail to track the movements of the suspects before the examinations," asked a student.

"The Telangana CID police visited many places in AP and picked up the suspects. More police raids are expected in the next few days and the students and their parents who met brokers for ranks will be arrested. The CID police are so far operating individually. If they ask for any help, we will certainly assist our counterparts," said an AP police officer to the Hindu.
