Patiala: Ludhiana's Christian Medical College (CMC) has gone back on its earlier decision to hold its own aptitude test alongside NEET for qualifying for medical admission to the college. This reverse has happened due to candidates alleging violation of the Supreme Court and Centre's decision making NEET the qualifying All India entrance exam for medical students.

A fresh notice on the college website on Thursday announced that the admission s to the MBBS and dental courses would be based on the NEET results alone.

The college has 75 MBBS seats, of which 50% are reserved for Christians. Of the 40 seats available in its dental courses, a similar pattern of reservation is observed.

The college will begin its counselling sessions shortly after the declaration of the NEET results on August 17.

The Bible test for the Christian applicants will be held on August 28. The qualifying mark for admission to the college is 40%.

The college decision has been welcomed by the Pre medical trainer Arvind Goyal, who has asked the health Ministry and the Medical Council of India to oust all private colleges who hold any additional exam. Principal Dr. Bobby John refrained from commenting on the issue proclaiming that it was an issue pertaining to the registrar's office.

The registrar however, was not available for comment.
