Chhattisgarh government to promote scientific research in medicine

Chhattisgarh: State government here has recently decided to launch a ‘DKS Post Graduate Institute and Research Centre’ in Raipur’s ‘Dau Kalyan Singh Bhawan’ (old Mantralaya building).


The initiative is to promote scientific research in medicine. The Director, Medical Education is expected to take command of the complete renovation of the building for setting up of the new institute, as well as entrusted with the responsibility of procurement of equipment, creating posts, appointment of medical officers and other staff


A high-powered autonomous committee has also been appointed to achieve the purpose. The committed constituted by the Chief Minister Raman Singh, is to be headed by the State’s Health and Family Welfare Minister Ajay Chandrakar.


The committee is also registered under the provision of Chhattisgarh Society Registration Act-1973. It will hold the position to approve decision related to renovation of the building, campus development, approval of important posts and appointment on those posts. In addition, the State Public Works Department (PWD) will undertake the infrastructure development work.


Pioneer reported that the institute is going to have a Director, Superintendent and a Nodal Officer and they will have the responsibility of starting the institute by fulfilling every parameter, said officials, adding that the officials will also be responsible of forming all requisite committees for the institute within one month.


Notably, Chief Minister Raman Singh had announced of starting a series of high expertise medical services, including neurosurgery, nephrology, plastic surgery, paediatric surgery and PET scan in DKS Hospital and made financial provision of Rs 21 crore in the State Budget of the current financial year 2016-17.


The officials also informed permission or approval required from any Regulatory Commission or organisation for the institute would be sought immediately.
