Chennai: PG student of Madras medical college attacked with knife

Chennai: A medico has been reportedly attacked with a sharp knife by three unidentified men at Koli Street. The incident left the second year post graduate student of Madras Medical College with grievous injuries.

At the time of the incident, the medico had stepped out to a 24-hr medical shop newar the Kilpauk medical college, where he was doing a night duty yesterday. He was there at the chemist to buy a medicine for a patient around 12.30 am.

The police have confirmed in their statement that after parking the car on the road close by to the medical store, he stepped out to walk towards it, and was suddenly confronted by three-men on a two-wheeler. The trio demanded money and valuables from him at knife-point.

Only when the doctor refused money saying that he was a student and did not have cash, they left him wounded with inflicted cut marks on his head.

The victim is said to have made a lucky escape at that point as they fled the spot quickly. Later, the victim rushed to his car to get back to the hospital. Now, he is reported to be undergoing treatment at Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital for the injuries and has five stitches on his head.

As reported by a website, "We have taken the CCTV footage and the attackers will be arrested soon," the police said. A case has been registered.
