Patna: Arvind Nath Tiwari, a coaching center owner and an alibi in a clandestine cheating attempt made by a medical aspirant Abhishek, during the AIIMS Entrance Test on May 27, has been finally nabbed by a Jaipur police team along with the help of Special Task Force (STF) of Bihar police. Tiwari was picked up from Vivekanand Path under Anand Puri locality, which falls under the jurisdiction of Shree Krishnapuri police station in Patna, on late Saturday night. The charges against him include his alleged involvement in leaking questions of AIIMS MBBS medical entrance examination.

In an earlier story done by the Medical Dialogues team about the cheating incident, it was reported that a CCTV surveillance at an examination center at Maharishi Arvind College in Bhankrota, Jaipur saw a student caught red-handed in the act of cheating, during an AIIMS entrance exam. The cameras caught him retrieving a mobile handset from the in-between of his shoe sole and take a picture of the question paper, to send it to a teacher in Uttar Pradesh, through the WHATS app, to get answers from him to the questions sent.

“After the examination started, he leaked screenshots of questions to Arvind via WhatApp to which the coaching owner had sent answer keys from Patna. In the meanwhile, he was caught by two representatives of AIIMS who were on inspection,” STF sources said.

Arvind runs a Biology coaching institute at Vivekanand Path. STF sources claim that Arvind had used the WhatsApp to send answers through to the above mentioned Abhishek Kumar of Deoria in Uttar Pradesh during the AIIMS entrance examination held in May.

They said that during the course of the investigation it had come to light that Abhishek had been in constant touch with Arvind via the same phone which was used for sending questions.According to them an hour before the exam commenced, the two the contacted each other. Sources said Arvind had been taken on transit remand to Jaipur.

While there was no concrete evidence emerging that could lead the investigation officers to believe that the teacher-student duo was part of a larger gang. “They were perhaps operating on their own,” added sources to the TOI.
