Chattisgarh: 3 Government Medical Colleges gain MCI nod for 250 MBBS seats
Raipur: Three Government Medical Colleges in the state have gained recognition from the Medical Council of India for 250 MBBS seats altogether for the academic year 2019-20.
Two government medical colleges based at Rajnandgaon and Jagdalpur received approval for 100 MBBS seats each while the Raigarh Medical College was given 50 seats.
The Rajnandgaon Medical College is affiliated to the Chhattisgarh Ayush Health Sciences University, Raipur, Chattisgarh while Jagdalpur and Raigarh medical college are affiliated to Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Memorial Health Science & Ayush University of Chattisgarh.
According to media reports, Rajnandgaon Medical College received the nod for 100 MBBS seats for the upcoming academic year. The government medical college was established in 2014-15 for providing quality education and medical training to the MBBS students. A 310 bedded District Hospital Rajnandgaon is attached to the Government Medical College Rajnandgaon.

The Government Medical College Jagdalpur got the approval for 100 MBBS seats for the coming session of 2019-20. The institute was founded in 2006.
The Government Medical Raigarh College got the approval for 50 MBBS seats for the said academic year. Initially, several faculty and other necessary facilities, the possibility of getting recognition for MBBS seats of 50 seats were low. A few days back MCI team had examined the situation during which displeasure was expressed over the incompleteness of infrastructural facilities.
During this time, the lack of faculty in college and other necessary construction work expressed displeasure over the incompleteness of construction. The dean of the medical college had met the MCI officials. The college was given the nod after the government took an undertaking to improve the infrastructure, reports the Nai Dunia.
The decision of the MCI came as a relief to the said medical colleges while the two in the state were denied the approval.
