PGIMER Dean Dr Verma bids Adieu to the institute after 4 decades of service

Chandigarh: Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) Dean Dr. Subhash Verma is finally bidding adieu to the country’s premier institution, after having served it for 4 decades as Dean.The ‘One Dean’ era comes to an end with his departure. August one at PGIMER will see two Deans take over administrative reins of one of the country’s premier Research and Education body.


Prof Rajesh Kumar will take over as the new Dean ,Academics; while Prof D Behera will take on the position of Dean, Research.


Having obtained his MBBS degree from Himachal Pradesh Medical College (HPMC), Simla, Dr Subhash Varma joined the PGI in January 1975 to carry on with an MD course in internal Medicine.


He started as faculty in May 1981, moved on to become the Professor and Head of Internal Medicine in December 1999. February 2016 saw him take on the designation of dean. His highest laurels remain to have served as a Officiating Director of the PGI from October 2016 till March 2017 , reports Tribune.
