Chandigarh: Another MBBS student found hanging from a ceiling fan

Ludhiana: A spate of medical student suicides is becoming a steady everyday stream of happenings with another 22-year-old Dayanand Medical College and Hospital(DMCH) student discovered dead behind the closed doors of his ward 4 residence by his father on Tuesday.


Rupinder Singh, a 2nd-year student of the Dayanand Medical college was found hanging from a ceiling fan by his father on his return from work. His father is an engineer with the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) and his mother works in a school. He also has a younger sister.


According to Inspector Surinder Singh, SHO, Sahnewal police station as no suicide note had been found, it is becoming difficult to ascertain the reason behind the act.


“When his father reached home after work, he found the main door locked from inside and no one answered the doorbell. He broke into the house. The boy was taken to a nearby hospital but was declared dead,” he told Express.
