CBI sleuths arrest another Vyapam scamer

Lucknow: Virendra Maurya a government doctor accused in the Vyapam examination 2012 case, for acting as a paper solver, was picked up by the Central Bureau of Investigation sleuths from Haidergarh area of Barabanki, on Friday.


The CBI had charge-sheeted against Maurya before a special judge in Bhopal last year in November and was on his lookout.


According to a CBI spokesperson, Maurya, on completion of his MBBS from Kanpur, had come across Sonu Pachauri, a tout who offered paid services to MBBS aspirants for clearing the examination. Maurya joined hands with Pachauri and acted as a solver during MPPMT 2012 examination, appearing for the test in Indore.


A Jatuva Tappa, Rae Bareli community health center’s medical officer then, Maurya helped a female candidate by helping her copy his answers at the Indore center.


Furthermore, the probe revealed that having secured qualifying marks, Maurya blocked a seat at People’s College of Medical Science and Research in Bhopal and vacated it later. The seat was then given away to somebody in an inappropriate manner; in other words, without following due procedure. CBI is also probing the role of the said institute, as well. Pachauri is still absconding.


Three dozen MBBS students from different government medical colleges in UP, happen to be part of the charge sheet filed by the CBI, in the Vyapam scam case. All of them played the role of paper solvers and some of them like Maurya went on to get governments, job reports TNIE.
