HP: Cath lab to start functioning at Tanda medical college in Navratra

Kangra: A Cath Lab at the cost of Rs. 5 crore will be operational in the super speciality wing of Dr Rajinder Prasad Govt. Medical college(DRPGMC) at Tanda from Navratras and trial run will start from September 26.


Disclosing this here today Dr. Vinay Mahajan Medical Superintendent told media persons that open heart surgery will soon start in the super speciality hospital here. He said that for first time in the state Fibroscan, a project of Rs. 2.75 crores for the early detection of the liver diseases will start functioning from first Navratra in the hospital.


Dr Mahajan said that to provide better and sustained facilities to the patients besides SRL private laboratory in the hospital now the DR PGMC Tanda laboratory too will be functional round the clock. He said earlier this laboratory was functioning from 9.30 am to 12.30 pm only.


He said that Rs 10 lakh provided by the Chief Minister was utilized for lighting the corridors of the medical college buildings. He said that within 4 to 5 months renovation and repairment of the toilets and improvement in the sanitation system of the hospital will be completed for which funds were available. He said that besides this Rs 1 crore was earmarked for civil works and Rs 50 lakhs for electric works for the repair and maintenance of the hospital by RKS governing body.


He said that Specialised treatment in Radio Oncology, Cardiology, Cardio Vascular Thoraxic surgery, Nephrology, Gastroenterology, Neurology, and Neuro Surgery departments was available in this hospital now.


He said more than 100 beds were going to be replaced and 50 to be repaired for the patient comforts. Dr Mahjan said that Rs 50 lakhs will be spent on the purchase of new mattresses, beds, bed sheets, chairs for the attendants and bed side lockers after completing the formalities.


He said that work on 200 bedded Mother Child care hospital, a project of Rs. 4 crore, will start soon.


For the first time in DR PGMC hospital attendant passes will be introduced to avoid more attendants with patients and mess in the wards. He said that three security posts will be introduced to check these passes. He said that 56 life saving drugs were available in the medical college round the clock. He said that prescription audit has been initiated with two pharmacologists and one Biochemist kept at his disposal by Principal Dr Anil Chauhan.
