The Chettinad Academy of Research and Education's (Deemed University) request for an introduction to a seat in Cardiology for its students at Chettinad Hospital & Research Institute, Kanchipuram has been denied by the Post Graduate Medical Education Committee. The denial comes in the face of faculty designation discrepancies along with other shortcomings pointed at in the assessment report.

The Postgraduate Medical Education Committee considered the Compliance Verification Assessment Report (19.09.2017) along with the Council Assessor's Report (September, 2016) and compliance dated 15.06.2017 submitted by the college authorities and decided to recommend not to recognize DM (Cardiology) qualification for 1 seat granted by Chettinad Academy of Research and Education ( Deemed University ) in respect of students being trained at Chettinad Hospital & Research Institute, Kanchipuram because of the following facts:-

  1. Dr. Pradeep G Nayar, presently Professor & Head was shown Asst.Professor in an earlier report from 2007-2009 (including in faculty table, his Declaration Form and Appointment order dated 14.12.2007. However, in the present compliance, this period has been changed to Associate Professor (a new appointment order bearing the same number and date (14.12.2007) has been changed from Asst. Prof. to Assoc.Prof. Such retrospective changes to make the faculty eligible are not allowed and amounts to supplying misleading information.

  2. Other deficiencies as pointed out in the Assessment Report.

Admissions (if any) done against these seats i.e. 1(One) after the first batch appeared in Examination till their recognition will be irregular/ illegal and not in accordance with MCI regulations (notified with prior permission of Central Government vide notification dated 21/07/2009) and will not be recognized. As per provisions of the Postgraduate Medical Education Regulations, 2000, failure to seek timely recognition as required shall invariably result in stoppage of admission to the concerned Post Graduate Course.
