Bengaluru: A businessman has cheated of Rs 21.5 lakh in the lure of a medical seat at KIMS for his son by a cheat.

Kishan Lal, a businessman from Haryana and the complainant, informed the police that he had met this conman Bhupinder Singh in New Delhi, where he runs a consultancy firm Vision Enterprises. Kishan Lal submitted his son's details to him to know the chances of getting an admission. After having gone through them Singh assured Lal of a seat at Kempegowda Institute of Medical Sciences in Bengaluru. The cheat demanded a deposit of Rs 1.5 lakh as a processing fee.

On 10th August, Bhupinder Singh established contact with Lal all over again, this time for Rs 20 lakh for submission to the medical college. He asked Mr Lal to reach Bangalore with the money, which the latter did. He met Bhupinder at a coffee shop and handed over the money. Singh in turn handed over a letter, which he claimed was given by the medical college. After giving the businessman an assurance that he would get a call from the college to update him on the son's admission status, Singh departed.

Ironically when Mr lal reached the college the next day, he was informed that no seat for his son had been booked. When the disturbed father tried to contact Bhupinder, he found the phone switched off. After several attempts at establishing contact failed, it dawned to Lal that he had been taken for a ride reported Deccan Chronicle.

A complaint was filed by him at the Cubbon Park police station on Thursday. The police have registered a cheating case against Singh and are investigating the matter.
