Panaji: A matter pertaining to admissions for MBBS seats at Goa Medical College has been adjourned by the Bombay High Court at Goa. This has been done in order to provide an extension to students who have lost these MBBS seats, stated the court on Tuesday. In the adjournment, the court awaits the statements of students who couldn't get admissions due to 11 late applicants being provided MBBS seats.

The late applicants were given admissions when they petitioned the High Court stating their unawareness about admissions being carried out by the state, before the declaration of NEET results.

An interim High Court order, in the matter, asked for a provisional merit list to be prepared, including the names of the late applicants, as well. Another interim order of the Court demanded that the Directorate Technical Education (DTE) fill the MBBS seats at Goa Medical College, based on this provisional list.

The hearings that followed, saw the high court ask DTE to submit a report on the number of late applicants, who received admissions due to the interim order. It also asked for names of those who lost out on admissions due to the late applicants getting a seat.

DTE, in its report, said that 11 lost out on a seat due to late applicants being admitted.

5 students out of the 11 who lost out on a seat, filed an intervention petition, on the basis of which the High Court has now asked for the statements of all who have lost an MBBS seat, by having notices served to them, reports TOI.
