Digital Doctor display board soon to be installed at Patna Medical College

Patna: A digital display board is soon to be installed at the Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH), having on display information about doctors on duty in different wards.


PMCH, Principal in-charge, Dr Vijay Kumar Gupta the initiator of the idea put forth the proposal during a meeting with the college administrative officials and doctors.


"The digital display board, proposed to be installed probably near the emergency ward, will inform patients and attendants which doctor is on duty in which department. It will also contain the phone numbers of the control rooms and health managers," Dr. Gupta told the TOI.


"I have directed the doctors in the control room to be vigilant. Two doctors man the control room in three shifts each. If one has to go out, the other should be in the room," Dr Gupta said.


Speaking on other hospital related issues, Dr. Gupta brought up the existing shortages of trolleys at the institute saying, "We have 28 trolleys, and I have requested the superintendent to make available 12 more."


On the medicine front, Dr. Gupta revealed that a number of medicines would now be available at the indoor, as well as, outdoor drug counters.


"Altogether 126 types of drugs are being supplied to the indoor drug counter whereas 65 types medicines have been made available at the outdoor drug counter," added PMCH Superintendent Dr Lakhindra Prasad to the TOI. Doctors have been issued the list of these medicines he further stated.


Speaking about unavailability of drugs at the hospital, Dr Prasad said certain drugs were not available at the hospital, as the Bihar Medical Services and Infrastructure Corporation Limited, the nodal agency ,supplying drugs to government hospitals, was not delivering supplies.


"The health department has asked us to buy these medicines in wholesale and make them available to the patients for now," he added.
