Puducherry: Puducherry Lieutenant Governor Kiran Bedi on Wednesday expressed shock over poor maintenance of the dental chairs in the government-run Mahatma Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Dental Sciences near here.

After visiting the hospital, Bedi, in a press release, said almost all the dental chairs were in a deplorable condition putting the patients at risk, and the outpatient wing lacked sanitation and proper upkeep.

She said she has issued instructions to the society through which the government runs the college and the hospital that the dental chairs should be repaired or replaced within the next three months.

The college should adhere to the norms of the Dental Council of India on the requirements of the institution, she said, adding that the pending stipend for interns should be disbursed without delay.
