Battling Tuberculosis: Depressed BHU MBBS Medico commits suicide
Varanasi: An aspiring Ophthalmologist, MBBS medico studying at renowned Institute of Medical Sciences, Banaras Hindu University (IMS BHU) has allegedly committed suicide at her hostel room at the institute's campus.
The medico moved to take this drastic step over being depressed and frustrated with her Tuberculosis (TB) ailment, as per the suicide note found from the medical student's hostel room.
Police officials informed PTI that the medico has committed suicide on June 23 by hanging herself from the ceiling of her hostel room on the medical college campus. The deceased has been identified as a junior resident doctor of the ophthalmology department of the IMS BHU.

Her parents have been informed about the incident and the body has been sent for an autopsy, Bhushan said, adding that further probe into the matter was on.

Medical Dialogues had earlier reported about the unfortunate incident where a PG medico pursuing MD in Gynaecology from BYL Nair Hospital had committed suicide.
The doctor was allegedly under depression as three of her senior colleagues allegedly used to harass her with casteist remarks.
Following the complaint registered by the mother of the medico, the three accused doctors had been booked for abetment to suicide under relevant sections of IPC. The doctors were booked under section 306 (abetment for suicide) of the Indian penal code (IPC), sections of the SC/ST Atrocities Act, Anti-Ragging Act and Information Technology Act, 2000.
