Vadodara: A postgraduate lecture course in Paediatric Orthopaedics was being organized by the Department of Orthopaedics of Baroda Medical College here on Sunday.

Funded by the state government this course is the first of its kind focusing on sub-specialty of orthopaedics.

"Top quality orthopaedic care for children recognizes the important differences between their young-growing bones and the mature bones of adults. Some conditions may just be a variation of normal growth while others with otherwise subtle symptoms might have a huge reflection into the adult life," said Dean of Faculty of Medicine, MS University, Dr Hemant Mathur.

Participants from Gujarat and neighbouring Maharashtra will be attending the lecture course.

"We have hand-picked topics in view of paediatric orthopaedic practice at large and the PG examinations," Organizing Secretary and Senior Associate Professor of the Department, Dr V H Chawli told the TOI.
