Attendants create furore in Tanda Medical college after patients death

Dharamshala: Relatives of a 45-year-old man, who died in Dr Rajinder Prasad Govt Medical College Hospital at Tanda last night, created a furore, alleging that the patient's death was due to the alleged negligence of doctors.


However, the Medical Superintendent, Tanda Medical college denied the allegation.


Raj Kumar of Kural Sullah village was bitten by bees on December 5, while he was on a tree and subsequently had a fall. He was rushed to Civil Hospital Palampur, where doctors referred him to Dr Rajinder Prasad Govt Medical College Tanda, where he died last night.


Due to the fall, Kumar had a leg fracture and was admitted in the orthopedic ward of the hospital on December 5.


Soon after his death, his two sons and sister alleged that no senior doctor visited the patient. They demanded an inquiry over the incident.


Medical Superintendent Dr Viney Mahajan told UNI that at 1645 hrs yesterday, it was said that the patient was passing brown urine and a senior doctor from the department of medicine was called. He suggested urine test, which was indicating kidney failure. The patient had swelling in his throat too, the MS disclosed.


Soon, a team of doctors comprising medicos from anesthesia, surgery and ENT departments visited the patient. He said that all efforts were made to save the patient.


Dr Mahajan said he last night suggested the family members of the deceased to have post-mortem of the body to know the truth about their allegations, but they refused. Today, they agreed to have post-mortem and the body after the autopsy was handed over to his relatives and post-mortem report was awaited for carrying out further inquiry, he added.
