Assam: Medical College felicitated on its 70th Foundation Day

Dibrugarh: The 70th Foundation Day of the Assam Medical College (AMC), was celebrated on Thursday. The flag hoisting ceremony saw the AMC Principal, Ratan Kumar, unfurl the institution’s flag. An open session was held at the Dr. John Berry White auditorium, where the principal gave away prizes to students for academic excellence.

After the annual report presentation, Mr. Kumar addressed the audience and recalled the glorious history of the medical college which began as the Berry White Medical School in 1900.

Heralding the beginning of allopathic medical education in Assam, the school also paved the way for the establishment of Assam Medical College in 1947.

Accorded recognition by the Medical Council of India, the medical college has produced over 8,500 MBBS doctors and 3,000 specialists since its inception.
